Betsy: I just got a Stream a little over a week ago, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the recordings, it's nothing like a Book Port thankfully, and they say it only uses like 9.1 meg per hour which is not much at all. For recording from a phone, I have one of those little black boxes intended for use with a tape recorder with a switch jack. Presumably, though I haven't tried this yet, you could plug the microphone cable into the Stream.
