It sounds as if your deverter is shot. In other words it's the device on the spout that you pull up and or turn to start the shower. You need to un screw the spout and take it to the hard ware store for a replacement. Also pick up some vynal plumbers tape and be sure to wrap the tape around the threads about three or four times before screwing the new spout on.

If i take the head off, there is no water coming out from the bottom anymore and i just bought a new head today. So about half the water is making it up to the shower head. Anyway so i take it that its a valve problem? Thats probably an easy fix to though. Anyone care to explain?
