I would like to see the blueprint community come up with menu plugin(s). At least this would give everyone a starting point in building a feature rich css menu. Then you can run compress.rb script and add in the menu style that you want for your site.
As will most things in blueprint, you get a set of sensible defaults. Then, those who want to change the style of the menu can reference the defaults and then go nuts. just my 2 cents.
