No, upon re-reading, it doesn't literally say that notification of the review period must also occur via the home page, but given that the "prominent posting" of the vote is required to be on the home page, it's also reasonable to interpret the intent of the procedures to assume that the review period notification should be just as prominent as the voting notification, which follows it. Besides - this is good news that we should want to share with the community! We're nearly done with the first specification to come through the process. That's worth telling everyone about! I agree that a different post could have been written, but given that that was the notification text approved by the working group, I posted exactly that. You are a member of that working group and didn't suggest any changes to the text at the time, which you could have. Maybe you can communicate any additional messages you'd like to see go out about this on your personal blog. I already did the same at http://self-issued.info/?p=88. As a courtesy, I also gave the board a heads-up of most of a day before posting - notifying them immediately after the working group decision to send the draft out occurred, at noon. No one proposed any changes, including yourself. I'm sorry that you're disappointed. I'm trying to drive progress for the community here and letting people know that that progress is occurring is important, which was my intent. I believe we accomplished that with the post. I might have expected a "thank you for helping get us to this point". Instead I was surprised to receive criticism for using wording that you reviewed and were part of the approval process for. I hope, upon reflection, you'll realize that my intentions were good and that I was trying to get the good news out so that the community will be aware of the genuine progress that we've made. -- Mike P.S. As for ridiculous HTML markup, I believe that I pasted the text from the e-mail message (not from Word) directly into WordPress, which is responsible for the markup. I'm not sure what this issue is here. It looks fine to me, both in IE and Firefox. Is there an issue where it displays incorrectly in Safari? I guess in the future I could paste the text into Notepad to remove any formatting and then paste that into WordPress, but I don't see that any harm was done here. Do you? "openid.net" is mentioned five times throughout the two documents with no where saying "the home page of openid.net". What frustrates me is that the audience of the OpenID blog is not one that understands IPR or what this review period means. It would have been far more impactful to tie this back to other posts about PAPE, explain again what PAPE is any why it matters, and explain what this review period means for implementers. It also would be nice if the post didn't contain all sorts of ridiculous HTML markup from being composed in Microsoft Word.
