Very true.

A bonus all round would be to make the credits a 'science'. Hence,
calibrate them to become something scientifically useful?

The present credits already get used as a 'performance' measure.
However, that can turn into a complete farce and generate bad feeling...
Perhaps the credits measure(s) need to be given a greater level of
importance?
