AC Milan

UEFA club competition milestones
. Milan have been crowned champions of Europe six times, making them the second
most successful club in the history of the competition behind Real Madrid CF.
They won the UEFA European Champion Clubs' Cup in 1962/63, 1968/69, 1988/89 and
1989/90 before lifting the UEFA Champions League with a 4-0 victory against FC
Barcelona in 1993/94 and most recently in 2002/03 when they triumphed on
penalties after a goalless draw with Juventus FC.

. Alongside their success in the European Cup, Milan also lifted the UEFA Cup
Winners' Cup twice - defeating Hamburger SV 2-0 in the 1967/68 final and Leeds
United AFC 1-0 in 1972/73 thanks to a Luciano Chiarugi goal after just four
minutes in Saloniki. The following season they were runners-up against German
side 1. FC Magdeburg.

2005/06 season
Domestic record: Milan ended the Serie A season in second place but a 30-point
deduction following a sporting fraud investigation in Italy meant they were
relegated to third and did not get an automatic place into the UEFA Champions
League group stage. They were the highest goalscorers in the league, scoring 85
times in 38 games.

European record: Milan coasted through the group stage of the UEFA Champions
League, losing once at PSV Eindhoven, before a 5-2 aggregate win against FC
Bayern München in the first knockout round secured their last-eight place.
After drawing 0-0 at Olympique Lyonnais, Milan won the second leg 3-1 but their
path to a second successive final was blocked by FC Barcelona in the
semi-finals - the eventual winners triumphing 1-0 over two legs.
