FC Porto

UEFA club competition milestones
. Porto have twice been crowned continental champions. The first European
Champion Clubs' Cup success came in the 1986/87 final at the expense of FC
Bayern München following a 2-1 win in Vienna. Ludwig Kögl opened the scoring
for the Bavarian side after 25 minutes only for Porto to hit back through Rabah
Madjer (77) and Juary (80).

. The club also lifted the 2002/03 UEFA Cup with a 3-2 victory at Celtic FC's
expense in Sevilla before claiming the ultimate prize for a second time 12
months later with a 3-0 defeat of AS Monaco FC with goals from Carlos Alberto
(39), Deco (71) and Dmitri Alenichev (75).

. Porto have also appeared in the 1983/84 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final, losing
2-1 to Juventus in Basle.

seasons and their fourth in a row. In this season's group stage, Porto and
Arsenal FC both recorded three victories and two draws from their six outings
in the group stage, but the English side topped the standings due to their
better head-to-head record against their Portuguese opponents (a 2-0 victory
followed by a scoreless draw).

2005/06 season
Domestic record: Porto reclaimed the title in fine style, finishing seven
points ahead of Sporting Clube de Portugal and a further five in front of
previous champions SL Benfica. It meant they again would progress directly to
the UEFA Champions League group stage. They also secured the double by winning
the Portuguese Cup with a 1-0 defeat of Vitória FC.

European record: Porto disappointed in the group stage last season, being
undermined by successive 3-2 defeats by Rangers FC and FC Artmedia. They then
defeated FC Internazionale Milano 2-0 but a defeat in the Inter return and
draws against Rangers and Artmedia left the club bottom of the section.
