>Anyone else plan on giving books to children for Trick or Treat?
I've never done it before, but I'd love to this year! I'm at a new house at the
end of a circle so I don't know how many trick-or-treaters we'll get, but I'm
game. Sounds like lots of fun!

I have a question though. I was discussing it tonight and up came the worry
about kids grabbing inappropriate books from the box. I'd planned on having a
mix of picture books, young adult books (like Goosebumps and Christopher
Pike/R.L. Stine), and adult books (Stephen King, Koontz, etc.). The problem
was, what if I young kid grabs a book intended for an older reader, gets home
with it, and parents get mad. I live in Virginia. Northern Virginia, but in a
somewhat conservative place (sadly) and parents tend to... over-react about
things like that.

And I certainly *wouldn't* want a 5 year old pulling out a copy of 'It' and
getting to the orgy scene and being shocked. Okay, so that probably wouldn't
happen, but my question remains. I don't want to have to babysit the books and
dictate who can take what. I'd planned on two boxes (maybe three) for each type
of book but now I'm paranoid and concerned that kids will end up with books
they shouldn't have.

Should I scrap everything potentially too violent to be safe? Or should I try
the different boxes and hope for the best?
Anyone have any advice based on past experience?

Thanks!
