I can't now even get the deque error you mention, can you send me the error listing (maybe outside of boost list). Maybe there is a better way to fix it instead of including deque.
The error was exactly what I quoted in the first posting of this thread. The gcc uses a non-conformant deque which has a third parameter, thus the forward declaration doesn't work.
Here's the patch for boost/lambda/detail/operator_return_type_traits.hpp:
