in general we tried to do that in the past. at the sunset this allowed
us to get the downstairs room mostly to ourselves. most places would like
this. all we need is a sucker^Wvolunteer to collect rsvp's and contact
the targeted place.

some more ethnic food ideas:

dim sum in china town. last year i helped organize a ne.food
trip to chow chau city which was loads of fun and so inexpensive
for all the food we scarfed.

korean bbq is supposed to be great and fun. this is a place in
        burlington.

Indonesian Rijsttafel is served on sunday nights at the andover
inn. we had that once and it is wonderful. read this for more:
        http://www.andoverinn.com/special_events/indonesian_rijsttafel.htm
we would have to assist in transporting some of us but it would
make for a very interesting evening out. this is only done on
sundays unless a large party books it on some other night. if
you order it, the whole table has to have it but it is worth it.

there are plenty of great places other than pubs to try out (not that i
dislike pubs).
