Simon, I've sent you two exe's compiled from perlapp. there is no -tiny option for perlapp. one is a hello world and the other prints out another message by indirect means.
executable size is 424kb for each. when I run them, they appear to uncompress themselves into my c:\windows\temp directory and then run from there. (uncompressed file is ~650k) I was unable to find teh string "hello" anywhere in the .exe or temp file. I'm not sure how they do it. they must compress it in the file, and then uncompress it in ram during execution. I've got a hex file editor. but I'm not sure how to look at a ram image. Since ActiveState makes no claims that PerlApp is an encryption tool of any kind, it should not fall under DMCA anyway. But consider this written permission to attempt to crack my executables. Sure, its a dumb law. Whaddya expect from a planet that invented "Professional Wrestling"??? Greg "Digital watches are a neat idea" London
