Hi David,

I'm sorry I did not respond when you asked for this the last time. I am
waiting to hear what the County Commissioners have to say about this. If it
turns out that we cannot use county funding for services to undocumented
immigrants, then the effect on us will be that we either a) have to turn
down funding from Boulder County or b) have to start asking our clients for
information regarding their status. If we decide to ask clients about their
status, we risk scaring them away from seeking our assistance, which in turn
will increase the number of people residing in East Boulder County who are
hungry. Also, if we ask for information regarding status, we would then
have to figure out a way to only use county funding for people who are here
legally. More than likely this will cause an administrative nightmare- not
too mention more work for staff and volunteers who have more than enough to
do as it is.

Subject: Affects on service to immigrants by HBS 1023

Hi all:

Based on our discussion at the last HSA meeting, I am asking that each of
you provide us with examples of how your services to immigrants would be
effected by changes in immigration laws and policies. How will HBS-1023
affect your agency? Some folks have responded but it would be helpful to
hear from everyone.
