Hello Terry: No, the MPower did not come with an external microphone, but most microphones with a 1/8 inch connection (mini phone_ will work. This is probably the same type of connection that your computer headsets use. I've plugged in everything from a cheap computer microphone that you can get from Radio Shack for about $10 to a high end condenser microphone that I use for my mini disk recordings.
