Yes, Brenda, you're right.  You don't have to belong to NLS.  Most of
us have been members of NLS since ever, and sometimes we forget that
some folks aren't.  Kelly, she's right.  The deciding factor *is* if
you're print handicapped.  You have to submit a Proof of Disability
form.  Most folks ask their NLS Regional Library to send verification
of their membership in NLS, which is a passport to Bookshare.  If you
don't belong to NLS, then, you have to get the requisite authority:
social worker, doctor, lawyer, minister, priest, optometrist,
mobility instructor, rehab counselor, whatever, to verify that you really do 
need Bookshare.
