Hi, Go into activesync. Once there, choose file, connection settings. Make sure that you don't allow a serial connection at this time.
Now try JAWS again. Does it work? --- Matthew F. I have been able to do a hotsinc. I have turned off the visual display in the braille note giving it 1 less thing to think about. I contacted humanware who suggested using the powerbraille driver which I tried. That showed they didn't have much confidence in their own drivers. I don't know if this any relevance but when I have tried to change synths the soft ware synths no problem and the apollo 2 also has a check by it. The keynote gold does not come on and Jaws keeps working but eloquence stays checked. When I try active sinc it tells me com1 and 4 along with the USB are available. I decided to contact sight and sound a distributor of Jaws who suggested it was a start up conflict. So at the moment I have 3 computers a braille note and voice note and can not get any of them to communicate with each other. cheers Val ----- Original Message ----- From: "Susan Stageberg" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Braillenote List" <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, July 19, 2005 8:47 PM Subject: RE: [Braillenote] braille terminal It also won't work to have the computer looking for ActiveSync and a display on the same port. This sounds silly, but it's been known to happen. So when I upgraded the braille note and jaws I put it back on to see if I stil got the error message. I suppose if you do not get the message the braille works. When I installed the new keynote driver and went into jaws synths, it looked promising because there was an additional synth keynot gold and braille note. It still did not work. So I checked out the JFW.ini and noticed that it did not have the port information which I added. I still did not have any luck and think I might try going through lpt1, what do you think? cheers Val ps regarding pdf files I find kurzweil a great file converter. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Susan Stageberg" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Braillenote List" <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, July 19, 2005 4:53 PM Subject: RE: [Braillenote] braille terminal Val, I can answer one of your questions. The message about "unable to initialize Braille driver" comes up because of a check box that is checked under Braille options in JAWS. If you uncheck that, you won't get that annoying message. As for the rest of it, I assume you have followed all the usual steps: you've gone into JAWS Braille options and added the BrailleNote as a display; you arrow to it in the list and then press the Space bar to check it. Tab to OK, press Enter. Then unload JAWS, hook up the BrailleNote, set it in Terminal mode (from the Main Menu, press T.) Now start JAWS and you should have Braille. As for the synthesizer piece of this, you say you have installed the driver that allows the BrailleNote to be used as a synthesizer under JAWS. Somebody else may have to step in here, as it sounds to me like you've done what needs doing. The problem I am having is setting up my braille note 6.1as a synth and a braille terminal with my Jaws screen reader . I have tried at least 3 different machines with different operating systems. I have tried the new driver from the humanware web site. Then upgraded my Jaws up to 6.2 and still no luck. I checked the com 1 with another external synth apollo 2 and it works fine. I tried loading jaws after start up but it comes up with a message "could not initialise braille driver". I am out of ideas any suggestions would be gratefully received. PS thanks to Sharon for telling me about this list. cheers Val ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.humanware.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.humanware.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.humanware.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.humanware.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.humanware.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.humanware.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote
