Hi,
The program is just that--a program that is (I believe) either
emailed or sent on CF. You run it from the "application program"
option in the Utilities menu. As far as files go, I am not sure.
I think it is ROM, as I was looking through the program files of
my classic, which has the mod, and my mPower, which does not. I
saw nothing different--no files that the classic had that the
mPower did not. Also, a new option is added to the Options menu,
and I do not think any reset can cause you to have to reinstall
the software.
Alex

Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Spanish mod (was message on the
braillenote list)
Hi list,
Well I guess the reason they put the french things in the bn is
to fill out
the rom. Some devices need to have an exact rom image and there
was no other
for humanware to do this then with putting something extra in.
And yep I have a 32 cell bn. But I do want spanish since I need
to learn the
spanish accent (some things are like in Hungarian), though.
If there's any on this list who knows Hungarian, I can send over
a hungarian
computer table in which the braille signs can be written and read
in
hungarian. I use it with reading books from the Hungarian
Electronic Library
which offers books for free that are out of copyright. Just a
note there.
Though back to the topic of multi spanish langual: Do you have
to send
you're bn back to pulsedata for them to upgrade? and are the
files stored on
the flash disk or is it burnt directly into rom?
Hope everyone has a nice day!
With best and kind regards:
Tomi

Tomi:
The French thing has been there since the mPower was released.
For some
reason, HW has not bothered to remove it, but it does not hurt
anything.
I have taken Spanish for four years and am starting my fifth
next Tuesday.
For three and a half years I had the Spanish mod on my BN. The
synthesized Spanish speech takes a lot of getting used to, and
the
computer Braille table is hard to figure out, but now that I
know it I use
8 dot Spanish computer Braille for everything (it is easier than
having
some files in computer Braille and others not). I should also
mention
that my default file type is MS Word, so I can just write
something or
complete a worksheet and email it to my teacher. (Always having
Spanish
braille also lets me use accents and other special characters in
emails
and file names, as long as I use the BACKSPACE+j command to
switch to
computer Braille first). I do this in all my subjects and
recommend it
over printing. Now, with my mPower, I can also pass in work on
a thumb
drive which most computers can read.
Anyway, I was going to say that the main advantage of the mod is
synthesized Spanish, so if you have a BN and not a VN, it may
prove to not
be necessary. The mPowers come with the Spanish computer
Braille table
already loaded, and you can change to this by going to:
options > Braille display settings > computer braille table and
use SPACE
with dots 3-4 until you see "Spanish computer braille table".
Good luck in your classes,
Alex
P.S. Your English is great; I would not have known it was not
your native
language, at least without being able to hear you speak.

Subject: [Braillenote] re: message on the braillenote list
hi Malaina and list,
Well first I would like to thank everyone for the warm welcome.
I might be
switching to the digest form of the list since reading 45 message
every day
can be tedious. There're so many members! And I will have school
after
laborday, so I will not have much time for e-mailing. I'll of
course still
keep an eye on the messages, though.
As for Malaina
's Question, I want to learn Spanish as my third language. I
already know
Hungarian and am pritty good at English (I hope). I want to
translate
between hungarian, spanish, and english.
Speaking of languages, why does my braillenote m-power come with
the French
userguide? in my windows folder, there are files called
"frbnb.exe and
frcabnb.exe". Plus, in the windows folder, I have some french z5
games. Like
Filements. I can't switch to French though. My school has not
brought the
french multi... Though they need to buy Spanish since I'm taking
spanish
level 1 this year (I'm a freshmen).
Hope everyone has a nice day!
Regards:
Tomi

Hi Tomi,
My name is Malaina and I saw your message on the braillenote
list. I also
have ROP. I am glad that you have an mpower now I just got mine
in
Febrary. What languages do you want to be a translator for?
Take care,
Malaina
