Hi Sharon,
I've never tried using wireless connections during electrical storms. We rarely get those out here in Southern California. I have a hunch, though, that you may have had a brief power outage while you were asleep. In that case it may be necessary to turn the modem and router off for about 20 to 30 seconds, then turn them back on. While I was next door having dinner a couple of nights ago, my apartment building lost power, and when I returned home and attempted to use the net, I couldn't get on. Recycling the modem and router's power as I just described brought things back to normal.

Subject: [Braillenote] storms and wireless conections

Hi, I was wondering if storms effected a wireless signal? What happened is we had a really bad storm here last night, even though we didn't get the worst of it we still got a bad thunder storm. Before I went to bed last night I was able to access my internet wirelessly, I was doing this because it was safer than using my computer in the storm. When I woke up this morning I wasn't able connect to the wireless at all. Even when I was standing next to the router there was nothing. This afternoon my brother and I fiddled around and got it working again but we don't know why it stopped working in the first place.

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this?

From Shaz.
P. s. For those of you who know me and the Canberra Blind Society, my place is fine however the Canberra Blind Society will be closed for a few days. The office didn't suffer any damage but the building did and clients aren't allowed in at the moment. When I was there today we had no power. I'm not sure when the office will be opened again it depends on what happens with the building, its roof came in just like a number of buildings in Civic. If you would like to be kept up to date let me know.
