Hi List,
Can anyone please tell me what is possiblely going on with my braille display?
Tonight I turned on my Bn and the Bn said,
"Main menu."
I pressed a thumb key by accident and the Bn said,
"Wordprocessor."
I had both speech and the display on at the same time. The braille display had
all these symbols for the grade 2 contraction "For." I kept pressing the thumb
key (which was the advance key) and checked the display. Sometimes the display
was ok. I turned the Bn off, then on again. The display said "Main menu." I
pressed the advanced thumb key again to see what would happen with the display.
I had a dot 4 and w as part of the word "Wordprocessor."
Instead of the letter p appearing on the display I had an m appearing on the
display. The interesting thing was that the dot 3 on the m was going down so I
had dots 1-4 and the rest of the word "wordprocessor" on the displayddI hope I
am making sense here. I gave it a reset. That didn't fix the problem.
Actually, I gave the display a clean with a dry cloth before I pressed the
reset button. I tried a 1-2-3 reset, but that didn't work either. Next I
tried a 4-5-6 reset. That also didn't work. I tried to exercise the display.
The display didn't exercise properly because the cs didn't come up. Instead
dots 1 to 6 were up. I went back to the main menu. I turned the Bn off, then
on again. When I pressed the advance thumb key again the speech said
"wordprocessor" and the the grade 2 contraction for the word "for" came up
again. The cells were in some groups and the groups were gapped. Amongst
these cells were some qs I think.
I turned the braille display on and off. I also turned the unit off and on. I
went to the item wordprocessor. This time I had the grade 2 st symbol instead
of the dots 4-5 as part of the word "wordprocessor." I waited to find out what
would happen. After what seemed like a few seconds the dot 3 of that symbol
went down and I was left with the dot 4 as part of that word. This time I
turned the Bn off for a few minutes (i think) and tried it again. I think I
still had a few problems. For now the display works, but I just wanted to know
what was going on. The problem I have described above, has been experienced in
all of the cells on the display.
I appreciate any help anyone can give on this matter.
Thanks,
Alana
