Hi Steve,
Actually, it is already built in. There is a small utility
called JAWS for Windows PC Keyboard Emulator where BrailleNote's
keyboard will emulate a standard QWERTY keyboard. At the
Terminal, press I CHORD (I'm not sure whether it works properly
with QT though) and you should hear two beeps. This tells you
that BrailleNote is in "Edit Mode" where you can use your
keyboard to input data. If you press the same keystrke once
more, it will give you single beep, indicating that BN is in
"Reading mode" - default mode. This keystroke is a toggle.
One thing that I might add, for QT users, is ability to use
complete QTWERTY keyboard for data entry, as opposed to braille
keys (a, s, d, f, j, k, l, semicolon). That way, a QT user can
input data on the PC just like a standard keyboard. And some
keys may function as modifier keys. For example, READ might act
as Alt, CTRL as Control, Repeat as Applications key, etc.
Cheers,
Joseph P.S. You'll need to install the emulator file. You'll
also need KeySoft 7.2 (if I'm correct).

Subject: RE: [Braillenote] Any items that you want to be
discussedontomorrow'schat?
Hi Joseph and list,
I can't attempt the chat for lack of equipment.
One thing I have wondered about though which I don't think the BN
currently does.
I know it can act as a display for a PC through "Terminal for
screen reader".
Most braille displays that do this are only displays.
I haven't tried the BN as a PC display, but feel the BN's
keyboard could get in the way.
Would it be possible to make the BN's keyboard available as a
keyboard to the PC as well as the display?
In this way, we would not have to juggle the BN and a keyboard,
but could make use of both the keyboard and display from the BN.
Kind regards,
Steve.
