As one who habitually uses grade 2 Braille for all document
preparation on my BT keyboard, I am pleased that, for various
reasons, I had already decided to delay upgrading to 7.5. It is
very obvious from the many emails on this thorny subject, that we
have a translation problem. However, with regard to UEB, I
would wish to make it clear that, here in the UK, no decision has
been made to convert to this recent Braille translation
innovation; that is UEB. A recent call I made to the Royal
National Institute for the Blind here in the UK, was shunted
around many departments before I could locate anyone who had even
heard of it, and I was most emphatically assured, that there were
no plans to adopt this system. What may happen in the future,
perhaps only the Good Lord knows, but that would appear to be the
position at this time.
Don Cooper.
