Hi all,
I was going to forward you an e-mail from one of the technical support
people at Humanware UK. His name was Tom, and he has helped me very well in
trying to solve the issue whereby I can't get Braille Terminal/Remote
Synthesizer to work via bluetooth. However, as he attached a document I
thought it was better to not only give a short summary of what he said, but
also to ask for recommendations, yet again, sorry folks.
Now to the answer. Basically, he can't specifically recommend any bluetooth
adaptors as they don't supply any, which is fair enough. However, he has
discovered two cases whereby Belkin adaptors don't work with the bluetooth
serial (com) port properly, even though it appears to have been set up
correctly at the PC's end. So, in conclusion, don't use Belkin bluetooth
adaptors if you plan to use your BN as a Braille display/Remote synthesizer.
Attempting to do this will result in error messages being displayed on your
BN. Also, if you try to search for your Belkin adaptor, it will be found,
but it won't be able to see the list of services, which is critical in order
for the BN to work via bluetooth correctly. Hope this helps.
Now onto the recommendation: I'm trying to decide whether to buy either a
Kensington bluetooth adaptor or a Linksys one, the Linksys one sounding very
interesting as it comes with its own software. Whether it's accessible or
not is not for discussion here. What can you all suggest please? Yes, I
could buy two, and return one or both, but what's the point when I could
just ask here beforehand.
I'm planning to buy one this week from my local PC World store, as I'd
really like to start using my BN affectively now, as I haven't been able to
due to this stupid problem. So, if you can, please reply on or off list as
soon as you can. I'd greatly appreciate that.
Thanks in advance for the help, and I look forward to hearing from you very
soon
