Hi, some network configurations use static IP addresses, that is, you're assigned a permanent IP address that never changes, hence the static. However, there are some network configurations that use dynamic IP addresses, whereby your IP address changes upon each connection. This is where the "obtain an IP address automatically?" prompt comes in. You'll have to find out from your system administrator whether your IP address changes, and if not ask for your IP address. You would then need to type that into the "IP address?" prompt of your connection configuration. Hope that helps. Hello. Thanks all it's now fixed i had select no to the prompt obtain an ip address? But I found the settings in my routers setup page. But now i have to set it up at my school I probably have to go to my adminitrater.
