However, we aren't talking about a Linux os and interface, just a
linux designed from the ground up to support ks. The Icon has
Linux--aversion designed for the Icon--and works very well.
Have a great day,
Alex

Another problem with Linux is that while there are a lot of
applications
that are supported, its accessibility has a long way to go. It
is true that
Keysoft would have to be rewritten. I personally feel that they
should have
used Windows Mobile, because its accessibility is a lot further
along, as it
is based off of the regular windows platform, and there are even
more
supported applications. This is the only thing that I liked
about the
PAC-Mate. I like the braille note much better because, while
there aren't as
many options as I had with the PAC-mate as far as software to
use, I like
the hardware design much better and the command structure makes
more sense
to me in some ways.

I think it is a good idea, but ks would have to be completely
rewritten and
I am not sure that media and documment formats would remain
supported, as
in wma files or ms word files.
Have a great day,
Alex

Subject: [Braillenote] Linux vs. Windows CE
I was curious why the BrailleNote runs on Windows CE versus
running on Linux. We already have KeySoft as a custom
interface, and if
it ran on top of a Linux based architecture, there wouldn't be
as much of
a concern with the SDK that there would be with Windows CE, and
also if
it's running a commercially available form of Linux, you could
just
download third party applications and still have the virus-free
security
that KeySoft has always had. Any thoughts on this?
