Ottawa Canada Dear Robert and list:
You should check the web site of your CF card's manufacturer for any programs they have to recover files from a card that has gone bad. Sandisk for one, I believe has such a program available for sale, I forget the price. http://www.sandisk.com If you kept your proof of purchase for the card, (like the bill from the store) you may be able to make a warranty claim on the card that has gone bad. I don't know why cards go bad, perhaps the Sandisk web site contains a write-up on this. Unfortunately it is usually the files on the bad card that are usually more important to us than the actual cost of replacing the card. Guess if you have very important files on a card, it pays to do regular backups of them to either another card, tape or other media such as hard disk or CD/DVD so all is not lost if the card goes bad or the file is deleted accidentally. Good luck and please keep the list updated on your success or failure on recovering the files. Brian Brian K.
