Ann, You are right about that. If he wants a unit which is more current, he will need to talk to his counselor about it and may have to wait until he is out of school before that will happen. I don't know that because I don't know the counselor involved and I don't know what state is involved either.It, however, is better that Jose know all of his options so that he can talk intelligently to his counselor about the subject.
Jose, just because you know your options and are interested in what is going on does not mean you will get your counselor to approve what you want. Please be prepared for that. You will very likely have to use your current unit for taking notes right now as An is right about the investment in time and money because you would be jumping several releases with that machine; and I am not sure that your counselor will approve something like that.
