Hi Alana and list,
Great suggestions, although I have few comments:
* Regarding Word support: You need to realize the support for docx and
othedr versions of doc format is heavily based on Windows CE version. I know
that I said this long time ago, which I'll repeat it again: Word 2007
support requires Windows CE upgrade (to at least 5.2). Support for Word is
not easy (from what I heard) - you need to find a way to circumnavigate docs
with graphics, deal with complex formatting, etc. Planning might be simple
as, "okay, ldt's add a way of representing tables," but the hard part is to
develop the actual way of displaying information so that it can be
understood by users who have never used a computer before - which requires
some processing power and memory (I think Ray and other "programmers" can
comment more on software development, which I'll be learning about it myself
for the next four years at UcR).
* Dynamic websites: the "refreshing" capability is part of dynamic websites.
I heard it is a Javascript function (which Windows CE does not support;
Alex, am I correct?).
* Global Find: I know it is somewhat of a shame that Global Find is not
included in KeySoft (which is a native function of Windows CE). Curently,
there is a workaround which I and Alex have "discovered" - actually, I was
told about "command line" from someone at Humanware, which I passed along to
Alex and others on this list. Go to Utilities/Application Program, select
KeySoft System Disk/Windows folder, then select cmd.exe. At the command
line, type the appropriate commands to initiate global search (I forgot what
those commands were, sorry), then press ENTER. The result of the "search"
can be found at the root of the keySoft System Disk (if I remember it
right).
I ghope you understand the comments that were brought on this list -
particularly Word support issue.
Cheers,
Joseph

Subject: [Braillenote] Suggestions for KeySoft 8

Hi,

I have a couple of suggestions.

First, I think there should be a search feature that you can use to search
for missing files and second, I think word support needs improving,
especially for the support of word 2007 documents which are not supported at
all.

Also, I think it would be great if we could have a feature that would allow
us to choose when web pages are refreshed and to be notified of these
refreshes as in when they will happen and how often they will happen.

Thanks.

Alana
