The .docx file is a normal Microsoft Word file, but saved in MS
Office 2007 format. The pc could not read it because you do not
have Office07, and the bn showed random characters because it did
not know how to interpret the data. The other files are ones I
have never heard of, but I am willing to bet that if you pressed
the applications key on them (on the pc), selected "open with" (
or selected "open" then selected "choose program" from the
dialog), and chose Notepad as the program to use, then it would
work. Sorry to burst your bubble about the bn's abilities, it is
just a matter of file extensions.
Have a great day,
Alex

Subject: [Braillenote] files the bn reads when the pc won't
First, thanks Zach for e-mailing me back on the card. I'd be
surprised if
you are wrong. hmm, suppose I could just try when I go to sprint
to get help
with my phone or maybe by then I'll just get a card from amazon
and be done
with the idea. They did say laptop and nothing about pdas but
then their
push seems to be to get most people to use their phones as an all
in one
device but since I can do wireless and sync my planner with my
pc, if this
card doesn't work then my heart won't be broken. Now, for those
of you who
always comment on what the bn doesn't like to read, I had a
question. I
recently got some e-mail attachments that the bn willl read but
my pc won't
accept one, witch says something about a file with a .doc
extension with an
x at the end of it. The bn gave me gibberish, and the pc didn't
know what to
do with it. The other files this restaurant gC gave me read on
the bn just
fine again, on the bn and not the pc but the main dinner menu
with the .doc
with the x at tthe end won't read on either of them. Could this
be excel
which I don't know how to use either with jaws or the bn. Should
I just ask
if they can re-e-mail me the menu? Just thought it was cool that
the bn
could do something the pc couldn't.
