Hi,
I'd like to know if there's an easy way to split large .brf files cleanly
using Keyword?
While I was at bookshare the other day, I found the 75th anniversary edition
of The Joy of Cooking, and since I like to cook and collect cookbooks, I
didn't hesitate to download and unpack it. The BrailleNote unpacked the
file just fine, as expected, but when I loaded it into Book Reader I found
that the book was absolutely friggin' *huge*. I did a 456 chord to get to
the end of the file and Keybook only let me get part way and would go no
further. I wanted to see how many Braille pages this thing was. Using
Keyword, I've split it up into eleven volumes, some of which are 500 pages
or more in length, but I gotta tell you, it was a major pain in the butt
doing it. Basically, I'd open the original .brf file, locate the beginning,
and move several hundred pages or so into the clipboard, create a new file
with the book name and a volume number, as in joy of cooking1, joy of
cooking2, et cetera, save the volume, then go back to the original .brf and
repeat the process until the last bit was manageable and fit to save as the
final volume. Is there an easier way to do this if I run into a similarly
huge file in the future? Thanks for any suggestions?
BTW, if you like to use cookbooks and need a good one, this new version of
Joy of Cooking is a keeper. Great stuff.
Tom
