hi, you have a very good point. Doesn't bookshare know that a lot of its customers are braille note users? Yes, Humanware didn't make the bad move, I think bookshare did. I use bookshare quite a lot, and not being able to use it would be very disappointing.

it seems like it's bookshare that made the bad move to me, not
hw.
maybe it's bookshare that needs a letter stating that their new
site is not
a good thing to do to current bn users

Subject: [Braillenote] New Bookshare...Fw: New Bookshare Final
Announcement!

Bookshare EmailHi all,
First, I am using my pc so sorry if this is in html. The new
Bookshare site
is coming very soon, as you can read below, but there will be a
problem,
well, maybe two. First, and most troubling: the bn family will
NOT be able
to get books from the site!!! The person I emailed at Bookshare
about this,
during beta testing the site, said that Humanware is working on a
solution
that is coming soon. We are all very familiar, though, with HW's
definition
of "soon"; we may not see it for months, though of course I
really hope hw
makes me eat my words and releases the patch soon. Second, and
this is not
as much of an issue, books are now in zip format, with a .zip
extension. I
am sure, though, that renaming a book with a .bks extension will
work fine
as usual for zip files, though hopefully the patch will fix this
as well. I
just thought I would give you all a heads-up; the beta people
said no one
could say anything until the site launched, but beta testing
ended Tuesday
(two days ago) and this seems to be an official announcement from
Bookshare,
so I have no problem alerting you now. HW, please fix this as
soon as
possible; losing access to Bookshare on our BNs is a very bad
move!

Have a great day,
Alex
