Nicole,

The word about word support, and HTML e-mail is that there is a

"workaround" they found helpful.

Let me address the work-around for word support as I understand it.

1. Open the word file in word on your computer.

2. Save said file as .rtf.
Now you are left with a formatter file taht has some garbage formatting strings left over from Word.

3. Open the .rtf file.

4. Go to the bottom of the file, and press any letter, then erase with backspace. this aligns the formatting characters into something the BrailleNote can work with.

5. Transfer the file to your Braille note, then open and read.

Can't this work-around be programmed in as something the Braille Note does when converting, or opening a word file? It's a symple macro, and too bad this is not an advanced braille lite environment.

Did they say a peep about
1. OS upgrade?
2. Word support?
3. HTML email?

Hello Grant:

Excellent reporting to the list. I too listened to the presentation.
Frankly, I WAS NOT impressed. I did JOIN IT rather late, listened to all
the questions asked including yours. Personally, I SHALL NOT upgrade! I
can't upgrade anyway, I use Build 22 going way back to 5.1 on the classic.
I will JUST WATCH the BrailleNote Classic I currently have DIE and consider trying out other notetakers specially adapted for use by the blind. I truly
think that BrailleNote as we know it may be going down the tubes!

Forget Ms Word support--try continuing to use the RTF workaround; forget an upgrade of the Operating System, Humanware WON'T TALK about that until they think they have figured it out; forget also the reading of HTML E-Mail; and
that KeyChat thingy? You have to USE YOUR COMPUTER to SIGN UP for GMail
before you can use it. You cannot do all the signing up independently on
the BrailleNote. Humph! I have the BrailleSense Plus B32; I signed up for
MSN/WLM without using my computer. It is a good thing I have a back up
notetaker.

You can POSSIBLY UNZIP files, but YOU CANNOT ZIP files in a given folder.
Interesting I dare say.

To those who MUST UPGRADE, the very best. For me to upgrade, I'd have to
PAY FOR EACH OF THE VERSIONS I have missed. No, I don't think so!

Sincerely,
Olusegun
