Hi list,
Well, I have been busying myself with studies for final exams. While doing that, I have read divergent comments regarding the behavior of this list and attitudes of the company. Some comments made me think of "virtual warfare" in this list - where we have "warlike" comments that some people have labeled as inappropriate and rude. Well, here's my opinions on recent posts: * The best way to raise a complaint is, in my opinion, through direct confrontation through email communication. Just because we have the list and a number of HW staff monitoring and reading this list does not mean that HW people would respond to all of our complaints. If we keep complaining about certain things that disturb the minds of listers, then I think that it should be sent offlist "directly" to the persons involved. In the case of discussion about the goods and bads of companies, I believe that there should be tollerance (as an exception); but repetitive negative comments that should have been sent privately is, in my opinion, somewhat "blackens" the list atmosphere, particularly if a comment is a personal comment "directed" at the company. * Personally, I think the best way to get technical support is through "digital" talks - this list, as well as similar activities. Talking on the phone is okay; but I know that people who knows a lot about BrailleNote family happens inuse emails to communicate with users (Maurice is a good example). Also, don't say something about Tech Support by just contacting them just once or twice; as somebody had said, even amongst tech support folks, there could be someone who is knowledgeable about BrailleNote and is willing to help you. * I have only one comment about languages: there are some words that "may" disturb people's feelings (please don't mention them). This list has so many people from various backgrounds who brings diverse levels of understanding and different methods of communication. So, let us try to make this list a place where people can talk about BrailleNote without disturbing anyone through use of language? * As for development of features, I personally suggest that we listen to opinions from "experts" to see how they feel. I'm talking about long term users of BrailleNote, programmers and company representatives. The company would have the final saying, but listening from the experts would be a good idea too, particularly those who are programmers or would-be programmers who understands how BrailleNote family (called embedded systems) works, as well as individuals who have used this device long enough to know how it works. That's all I have today. Sorry if I said inappropriate comments... I hope this post was useful in some ways. As for the Wiki situation, I'll try my best to contact them next week (during Spring Break) to see what's going on.
Cheers,
Joseph
