Hi all,

In the spirit of getting back into some good discussion regarding the
BrailleNote family of products, I'd like to share a tip with all of you
which I have recently discovered that allows you to listen to podcasts,
audiobooks, and other MP3 material on the BrailleNote, with the ability to
vary the speed of the content (i.e. speed up and slow down the narration).

It's a program someone on another list pointed me to called the Daisy Book
Generator. It sounds almost too easy to be true, but believe me, it's the
coolest thing. You right-click on a folder of MP3 files on a PC running
Windows, pick the Daisy generator option from the context menu, and the
necessary files are generated to turn the folder into a DAISY book. Then
you slip it on a storage card, load it up in the media player, and you're
all set to listen to your audio material that was not originally created in
the DAISY format.

Occasionally I have found the BrailleNote to be a bit slow with loading
books composed of many audio files (i.e. a hundred or more), but in general
it does a fantastic job with these books, and it is a pleasure to be able to
turn mainstream MP3 files into a format that supports variable speed control
on the BrailleNote. Here's the link to the program, and happy listening.
