I can try to summarize from what I know so far, and I should have an Apex in the next month or so to provide much more accurate information than trying to remember previous posts. I will skip the pros, since the hw site, the manual, the readme, the list archives, and the audio presentations can tell you about all of the Apex's good points. Here are the problems I have heard of so far:

1. Using wifi and bluetooth at the same time may cause your wifi to drop its connection more often than if you had bluetooth off.

2. There is no index for the user manual.

3. This is not confirmed, but there may be no way to run Windows CE utilities from the application program option, such as cmd.exe or mac address.exe. I will have to investigate this one. This only affects advanced/power users; in a word, geeks. <smile> I am one of them!

4. If you turn off the Apex with wifi on, you cannot connect to any network after you turn the Apex back on; you have to reset I believe.

5. The battery life is shorter than it is on the mPower, though you can buy and carry spare batteries. No word yet on if you can charge the spare batteries outside of the Apex.

6. There is no cf slot. While this is not a ocncern in itself since high capacity sd cards are supported and the Apex has 8gb of storage already built in, it does mean that you will need to get any files off cf cards and onto the Apex or get an external cf card reader and plug it into one of the Apex's usb ports.

7. The keys are much easier to move, and the thumb keys are smaller. This is not a bad thing, but note that you will have to get used to typing with less force and your thumbs may have to get used to new thumb keys. Coming from a voiceNote, though, this will not be a problem since you have not yet used thumb keys.

8. One user has said that the new scroll wheel is not very smooth. We are not sure if that is just the user's unit or if it is in all the Apexes.

That is all I can think of for now. Please feel free to tell me if I missed anything or got things wrong!

Have a great day,
Alex

Hello Peggy, and Frank, and ALL,
FIRST: HAPPY 2010!
I hope that you all have a very happy, Joyful, Fruitful, And PEACEFUL NEW Year This YEAR!
(SMILE!)
Second: I'm in the process of saving / trying to gather enough money for a braillenote.
I have an MPOWER Voicenote which is now running KEYSOFT 8.0 Build 20!
I love it!
However, It sounds like 1 this apex is more, ah what's the word I am looking for, more in line with current technology,
2 will be able to advance with the current technology,
3 being a college student has even more than the MPOWER has in the way of functionality I need, 4 and last but not least it sounds like the MPOWER is getting ready to be outdated, obsolete, in a word: Extinct. So, Peggy And Frank and anyone who has any information particularly, but not exclusively, firsthand information about the apex pro's and con's, objectively please.
I would Be eternally grateful if you would please pass it along to me!
(SMILE!)
THANK YOU!
I anticipate your reply email-(S) in Great EXCITEMENT!
MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU AND GIVE ALL OF YOU HIS PEACE!
SINCERELY, In OUR LORD And SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST, And Our BLESSED VIRGIN MOTHER MARY, Kristen...(Kristen A Novice In The Order Of Carmelites Discalced Secular - Group OF THE TRANSFIGURATION)

Apex)

I found a feature I never imagined.

I was reading an e-mail and I accidently prest an s in the
e-mail action
menu.
It took me to the Keylist menu where it added the name, middle
name,
e-mail of this person.
This saves so much time.
I love this feature.

I tried to do the same on my MPower but this option was not
there.
I like this feature, it's not perfect, I still had to edit the
e-mail
address field, but its way better than the way I have been
adding
addresses for the past 6 years?

Have I found a new feeture, or have I've been a dummy, creating
more work
for myself all these years?
Now, I'm wonderring what other time saving tasks I just don't
know about.

"I love the Apex!"
Best Wishs for 2010,
Frank.
