Robert,

I'm glad this works; I was discussing with a friend the other day the idea
that it might. Those cables with two plugs are so that the device can get
extra power. My guess is that the single host ports on the Apex can't give
big hard drives enough juice. But using two ports probably powers them just
fine. You've verified my theory.

Subject: [Braillenote] Hard drive

Hello All,
I have been experimenting with different drives, as well as cables to see if
I can get my Western Digital Hard drive of 500 gb to work with the apex.
I bought a Iomega hard drive that is also 500 gb and although it will not
work with the Apex, I thought I would try something different.
The Iomega drive came with a cable, that has two usb pluggs, so I thought,
what the heck, I will see if it works with my Western Digital hard drive.
So, low and behold, if I use the cable that has two usb plugs, with the
western digital 500 gb hard drive, it works just fine.
I just got it to show up, so I thought before I post something, I better
check it out, and yes, I was able to open a file, and read and edit it.
Since I know, that Mike Tindell and Sarai from tech support have been
trying to help me find a way to use the hard drives, I hope they see this
e-mail.
Take care,

Robert Stigile
