Hello to all, I have just returned from a pleasant holiday to
discover that, while I've been enjoying myself, the much-vaunted
corrective upgrade for the Apex has arrived. I'm sure that the
corrections and additions Which have been made will be much
appreciated by some. However, I had only two grumbles with the
programming as it was: 1. when copying databases the relevant
cdb file is changed to a protected file. this was never the case
formerly. It has the effect of making copied databases unusable
on other equipment unless one first removed this unnecessary
protection. I need to keep information up-to-date on the Apex,
and, via a card-reader, transfer the database on to a cf-card for
use on my PK while I'm out and about. Having to remove
protection every time I make an entry is, to put it mildly,
becoming rather tedious. Though the Firm had been made aware of
this fault, nothing has been corrected.
2. I live in a rural area many miles from the bank. Most
payments I have to make are by bank cheque. For several years I
have been able to do this without help on my Mpower, feeding one
of two HP printers. The cheques, like envelopes, have to be
inserted into the printers end first. to do this, one changes
the printer mode to Landscape printing. This command, letter z
in the format menu, is not functioning on the Apex, though it
always did work on my Mpower. This means that I have been robbed
of a degree of independence due to this fault as for every
payment I now have to seek sighted help. This too I mentioned to
the Firm; nothing has been done about it. I am not a happy
bunny. Let me be clear, I like my Apex, but I'm beginning to
have regrets about swapping my Mpower. I would at this time
welcome some reassurance from Humanware that these comparatively
basic errors in the programming are likely to be put right in the
very near future, and perhaps an explanation as to why they
haven't been already dealt with.
yours, with disappointment, Don Cooper.
