Well, having said this should work in an earlier message to Joseph, I would
add that I'm using XP and not Windows 7, so there may be a glitch about
which I don't know!

You can only use your BrailleNote as a client, i.e., you
can't do the management from the computer. However, yes,
using a crossover cable you can connect your PC to the
BrailleNote using Ethernet (assuming you really don't
want to connect your BrailleNote and PC to an existing
Internet-connected network, if you have one). Windows
will use the 169.254.x.x subnet, just set the BrailleNote
to match. This gets a bit complicated, but it's
possible.
