Hi, and thanks to everyone who responded to my initial email! However, unfortunately I don't currently have access to a computer on which I can re-save the documents. Is there anything I can do on my BrailleNote or that I can tell the people who are sending the documents to do differently to avoid this problem?

Thank you!

Lucy

I have seen this too, not only with doc files but also with rtf
files. When
I run into this situation, I usually open the file in word, save
it as plain
text, close the file, reopen the text file, and then save it as
word.
Note: You may wonder why not just use the text file. The same
anomaly that
arises in notepad is present on the bn. That is, the bn will
drop some of
the carriage returns in certain text file. For more information
as to a
possible *theory* on why this happens, email me off list.

Try saving as Word 97-2003. I have had this problem a couple
times.
The marker you are seeing is an English language tag, by the
way, not
that that helps. I am also not sure how to reproduce the
problem, but
make sure the file does not have any links, tables, headers, and
so
on.

Hi all,

I have always found DOC files to work well with the
BrailleNote, but recently I've received several which do not.
When the BrailleNote's speech is on, the file, when opened,
says,
"Indent". I'm not sure how to reproduce the sign displayed in
braille, but it looks like dots 1, 2, 4, and 6 followed by the
letters l, g, and e. This is all the files contain. Can anyone
explain why this may be happening and what I (or the person
sending the file) can do to solve this problem?

Thank you!

Lucy
