Hope you all are well and happy. Since this is exchange of
knowledge week something of which I'm all in favor, let me add, I
can tell you definitely and beyond a shadow of a doubt. Google
talk does not, and will not ever work on a dialup connection.

Bout jabber or any of the other XMPP clients, I don't know. Well
hafta wait till I get warless find out about that. So there it
is.
