I have the pac mate omni and although it may not have a future, it crashes
way less than the apex. I could write on my omni for hours and it is stable
and a great Braille reading / writing device. Also, when you need to
service the Braille device, you don't have to send the whole unit in like
you have to do with the apex. I wish humanware would build a device that
allows you to purchase the Braille display separately so if like me, due to
cost constraints could purchase the apex now, and then buy a display later
and have it installed. When I ordered my voicenote, it has this empty area
which could probably have a Braille display installed if they wanted to
design something like that.
My reason for buying the omni in 2008 was because I could buy the 20 cell
display later and have the ability to take it off when not needed. I'm
never selling mine as it is still a good unit and it is reliable. I
wouldn't buy it today though, but since I have one, I'm not selling it.
