Hi Audley. With every cell phone I've personally used, it is necessary to
execute a command on the phone itself to activate the infra-red port. I
always buy phones that have a menu system that gives each menu item a
unique number. So for example on my current phone, a Nokia 6610, all I do
is press the menu key followed by 121 and the infra-red port is activated.
