Unfortunately, due to my severe-profound hearing loss, I am unable to use a
Braille 'N Speak or computers that use speech output.

I have a five year old PC with a Braille display at home as well as several
slates/styli. These solutions work great at home but not so great at work.

I'm currently completing an internship where I am required to use the
computer, attend weekly meetings and keep detailed notes about the clients I
work with. Without my BrailleNote (or the Braille display I use at home), I
would be unable to access client information via the computer. Although
using the slate and stylus would definitely make it possible for me to take
notes, I have carpal tunnel in my left wrist which slows down my slate speed
considerably.

I'm thankful for the Braille knowledge I have but what happens to those of
us who don't know Braille or don't have access to older devices like the
Braille 'N Speak? What happens to those of us who only have a BrailleNote?
Not everyone can afford to have a PC and a BrailleNote -- let alone one or
the other.

Just some thoughts to consider...

Lisa
