I just have dial up, and didn't need to change my service, because technically, your cell phone company becomes your provider and you're logging in to your regular provider through their network.

Thanks Jonathan. That definitely helps narrow these things down. Thankfully,
one of the phones I'm looking at is on the CDMA system. Now I just need to
find whether it has an IR port or not.

An additional question on this: if I do proceed and purchase this CDMA phone
with the IR port, will I need to switch my ISP services from dial-up to
broadband? How does all that work? Or, do you sign up for service through
the cell company itself? I would welcome comments from anyone who has this
setup.
