Hi List Peace and quiet has been restored to our household. The sick BrailleNote that had all the problems re subject line is now well and up and running. We applied the time-out theory--left it alone for a day--turned it on, nothing happened, gave it a soft reset and it hard reset itself back to 3.07. A few flash disk error warnings and a few further soft resets and it seemed to be satisfied with the attention given. After reloading updates it seems to be still with us. So I guess we don't have to know all the answers, we must have been lucky and been given one of the models that think for themselves!
Thanks for your time, Regards Phyl. Problem as follows: Email access is either unable to be obtained or email access is achieved but locks up during download. It has beeped on anything from the first to about the fourth email. We have chosen to abandon and BrailleNote gets as far as "hang up immediately?" and locks with no further dialogue given, so have turned it off and performed a reset after turning on. On another occasion we have been spoken to, (not exact quote) "Warning! Flash disk error! Code 14." Then something like "the system ??" The BrailleNote in File Manager is allowing you to go through all the prompts for e.g. copying a file, but at the end is stating there is insufficient space, not allowing files to be erased, copied, moved etc. The BrailleNote locks when attempting to do so. Soft resets, soft reset and turn on at same time and hard rests with jkl have not fixed the problem. After resets the BrailleNote states "Flash disk error. There are three lost clusters in two chains, it will be saved in ... do you want this problem automatically repaired now? This has been automatically set to yes." On pressing help key for advice, BrailleNote advises to press Enter to continue, and on doing so returns you to Main Menu. We have tried to erase email folders.cdb but we were not allowed to do so, the prompt went something like "There is insufficient space to perform this task." This is not correct as there is something like over 2 mega bytes. We can still use the BrailleNote to read files. So! Any bright sparks out there? Appreciate your help. Kind Regards Phyl. Smith
