John,

I'll answer your Braille Translation RE punctuations later, I just need to do
some sampling to cover all scenarios when I write my explanation. I'm sorry if
I had not attended to your earlier posts on the matter, I've been quite busy
with other BN stuff. Now, I don't quite understand what you mean by not being
able to go into computer Braille when using the Search and Replace option.
Press BACKSPACE with F (I take it that you're using a BT). By default, you
must enter in grade 2 Braille. However, you can press BACKSPACE with J before
making any entries, and though neither speech nor the display will announce it,
you can then enter in computer Braille. You can do the same at the "Replace
with?" prompt. To switch to grade 1, press BACKSPACE with A; to switch to
grade 2, press BACKSPACE with B. Remember that you cannot switch Braille
grades while typing in a search or replacement string.
One tip that I should share here because it's not documented, to clear the
search and replacement fields, you can press SPACE with dots 3-5-6. This will
not only clear the field but also revert the Braille grade entry to the default
of grade 2 Braille. On the other hand, if you just want to clear the field but
keep the current Braille grade chosen for the entry, press SPACE with dots 1-3
(this is necessary to move the cursor to the start of the field), then
BACKSPACE with C (if the cursor was not at the start of the field when you
press this Clear command, only the stuff entered after the cursor will be
deleted).

Note, however, that when I upgraded to version 5.0 from 4.1, I did not have any
files corrupted, except for some parts that the old translator (Monty)
translated differently from Duxbury, which is understandable and inevitable.
But with Dbt in v5.0, BRF files read better.

Now, John, do me a favor and type in your next post, if ever you're posting
again, actual example where you're having problems with the punctuations.
Also, I would appreciate it if you tell me what are the dots you press to enter
a string of punctuations. That will make my life simpler and enable me and
others to better address your concerns. Thank you.

HTH,
Roselle
