Hi Karen, I apologize since I'm a little out of touch on this thread. Hopefully I'm not suggesting things that people have suggested already.
I'm going to try and tackle your problems one at a time. In the Braille display options menu, there are two grade settings. There is one for preferred reading grade which can be accessed all the time. However, there is the text document reading grade setting which can only be accessed in an open document. So, if you open a document and check that the text document reading grade is set to your preferred reading grade and the preferred reading grade is set to grade two, then you should be seeing grade two at that point. You should be able to change your speech settings by going to the options menu (space with o) then selecting the review voice menu. Let me know how you get on with the Braille display problem and then we'll try and tackle the other problem you have outlined in your email, unless of course, you manage to resolve it beforehand. If you haven't, try that. Go to where you read the emails; then space through until you find the free-up data space; then hit return, and then try getting back to main menu and doing a reset. Maybe after that you can reset your options if you need to. Hope this works. Dean is probably coming in soon. If I'm wrong, he'll set both of us straight. Give it a try. It won't break your system. I'm not getting personal, but do you have lots of books or music stored in there that might slow the system down? Do you have things attached like note cards that you can remove to clean up the system? These little guys are a bit fussy. > > Brenda Mueller > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > >From: "Karen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED] > >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > >Date: Wed, 14 Jan 2004 11:16:32 -0500 > >Subject: [Braillenote] Help??? > > >Hi, > >I seem to be having more trouble with my BN, and can't figure out what's happened to it. Like I stated before, it is showing up as grade 1 on the braille display, when my options are set for grade 2. Also, it is very very slow in responding to my commands. For example, it takes forever to move the cursor from one word to the next. Finally, the speech has been set to speak and spell words, and I can't seem to figure out why, and how to change this option. I saw it in the options menu, but when I attempt to change it from there, it doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated, since it is making it very difficult to take notes in class, and I don't wish to continue operating in this manner the entire semester. > >Karen > >Don't judge me because I'm blind--Judge me by what's inside.
