If you travel, you might be in some place where wireless is not an option. Then, you will wish you have the ethernet card. My dsl SBC yahoo, provides both dialup and dsl without charging more. I think most ISP's have dialup numbers you can get for the city you are in. But if the hotel has wireless or just an ethernet conection, so much the better since it is much faster than dialup.
