No, Bob, it's not a crackpot theory. What I'd like to see is a credit
union or a financial program of some kind that would be
non-govermental, possibly nonprofit which would either supply blind
folks with the equipment they need, or would offer low-cost loans so
that people could get their own equipment at a reduced rate. This
foundation or organization would be endowed so that it would be self
perpetuating. Frankly, I think that organizations of the blind which
either spend their money on sponsoring mountain climbers or in
internal bickering should quit doing both those things and make a
collaborative, cooperative organization whose sole purpose would be to
furnish people with computer equipment.
