Hi Josh: What others have said is correct--using the modem causes the bn to work harder and, thus, will cause greater batter drainage as well as a notification of "battery critical" sooner.
Remember that if you are manipulating email in any way, shape, or form (including deleting, moving, copying, freeing database space, or anything else) and your batteries go flat, you will most likely corrupt your database. So, my advice to you is, regardless of whether you still have 20% left of battery charge, do not go into keymail (unless you plug your unit in) upon hearing this message.
