Hi Lisa,

If you are ever unsure when you would need to type in computer braille, turn on 
the option in the braille display menu by going to the options menu, pressing k 
for keyboard options, and hitting the spacebar three times until you hear the 
option "do you wish to be notified when computer braille is required?" Until 
you know the device thoroughly, this should always be turned on.  I believe 
there is one instance where you will not be advised when computer braille 
really is necessary, but it would be best if you kept this option turned on 
until you really know the ins and outs of the unit.  HTH, Laura
