Actually, Paul,
With the Voice Note, if an email message has a blank subject field, the VN is 
silent.

The first time, or two, this happened, I thought my unit had froze.

You have to down arrow to hear the from line.

I personally think it would be helpful to know the status of a message as read, 
or unread.
